Jina Choi joined Morrison & Foerster as a partner in the securities litigation, enforcement and white-collar defense group. Choi will provide counsel on enforcement-related litigation, government and internal investigations, whistleblower complaints and compliance programs. Previously, Choi was head of the San Francisco Regional Office at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. She will be based in San Francisco.
Fish & Richardson hired Alex Ganescu as an associate in the patent practice group. Ganescu focuses his practice on patent prosecution, patent portfolio management and strategic counseling services. He will be based in the Silicon Valley office.
Holland & Knight brought on Ryan Leaderman and Ashley Shively as partners in California. Shively's clients include financial institutions and businesses and provides counseling in regard to fair lending, privacy, credit reporting, debt collection, false advertising and unfair business practices. Previously, she was a partner at Reed Smith. She will be based in the San Francisco office. Leaderman will be part of the land use and environmental practice group. Previously, he was a partner at DLA Piper. He will be based in Los Angeles.
Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe brought on Robyn Helmlinger as a partner in the public finance group. Helmlinger counsels clients on complex financings, debt programs and new financial structures. Previously, she was a partner at Squire Patton Boggs.
Willkie Farr & Gallagher brought on Craig Menden as a partner in the Palo Alto office. He focuses his practice on the representation of technology and life sciences companies in deal structures. Previously, Menden was a partner at Cooley.
Jackson Pai joined Crowell & Moring as counsel in the international trade and global employment group. Pai will split his time between the Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., offices. Previously, Pai was at Bryan Cave.
SulmeyerKupetz promoted four attorneys and brought on Cathy Ta as senior counsel in California. Jeff Pomerance and David Richardson were promoted to partner, and Asa Hami and Steve Werth were promoted to senior counsel. All five attorneys will be based in Los Angeles. Ta will also split her time with the firm's Riverside office.
Patterson + Sheridan promoted Nick Transier to partner in the San Diego office. His experience includes prosecution and litigation and building patent portfolios for clients. Previously, Transier had been of counsel since 2017 at the firm.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

Amy O. Bruchs and Kurt F. Ellison of Michael Best & Friedrich have entered appearances for Epic Systems Corp. in a pending employment discrimination lawsuit. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
