Hogan Lovells has added longtime federal prosecutor and former Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement division lawyer Ann Kim to its litigation department, strengthening the firm's West Coast securities practice.

“We have been strategically expanding our practice,” Los Angeles managing partner Michael Maddigan said in a statement. “Her background with government agencies, combined with her ability to speak Korean and her ties to the Korean community locally, make her a great fit for the strong Los Angeles team we've built in recent years.”

“I'm excited to return to private practice and use my experience with the government to assist Hogan Lovells' global clients,” Kim said in a statement. “The firm has amassed a talented and prominent team of litigators who are known both locally and globally for providing thoughtful, effective, and creative advice to the firm's clients, and I'm looking forward to working with them.”

Kim's tenure as an assistant U.S. attorney in Central District of California and as senior counsel with SEC included investigating and litigating cases involving federal securities laws—including fraud and insider trading—and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Her work for Hogan Lovells will focus on internal investigations, criminal and civil regulatory matters and complex civil business litigation.

Prior to her government service, Kim spent six years as counsel at O'Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles.
