Sarita Venkat, a senior lawyer at cloud computing  company ServiceNow, has been practicing law for over 15 years, but she is still constantly looking for ways to improve her craft as an attorney by listening to podcasts during her commute and downtime. However, as she perused the podcast options available, Venkat wasn't able to find the voices that would resonate with her most: women lawyers.

Feeling frustrated at the lack of female voices in legal podcasts, Venkat teamed up with her friend Katherine Minarik, global general counsel of e-commerce company Cleverbridge, to create their own podcast called “Heels of Justice.”

Venkat, based in the Bay Area, and Minarik, based in Chicago, launched the podcast in February. They have produced over 20 episodes, and interviewed such guests as Ruby Zefo, the chief privacy officer at Uber; Maja Hazell, global head of diversity and inclusion for White & Case; and Juanita Brooks, a star litigator at Fish & Richardson.

The Recorder caught up with Venkat while she was recording her interview with Noreen Farrell from the Equal Rights Advocates in San Francisco. In the video above, hear what she has learned from the experience.
