Jackson Lewis has added two principals to its San Francisco office. Labor and employment lawyers Gina Roccanova and Donald Sullivan have joined the New York-based firm from Meyers Nave Riback Silver & Wilson and Wilson Elser, respectively.

Sullivan joined July 8 from the San Francisco office of Wilson Elser, where he focused his practice on employee benefits and compensation and employment litigation. Roccanova joined Jackson Lewis on July 2 from Meyers Nave, where she served as chair of the San Francisco firm's labor and employment practice group.

Sullivan said he has known Jackson Lewis' attorneys for years and was drawn to the firm because of “the breadth and depth” of its labor and employment practice.

“What distinguishes the firm is the amount of expertise and skill all these attorneys have,” Sullivan said. “I'd also say collegiality. This is a firm that really focuses on work and life balance.”

Roccanova added, “What's wonderful about being here is that we can take a team approach and be really savvy about deploying resources and deploying people with unique expertise at any given matter for clients.”

Jackson Lewis, which opened its San Francisco office in 1978, has a total of 35 attorneys working on workplace legal matters in the Bay Area.

“Gina is a prominent practitioner who is well-known for her experience in labor relations and her track record of delivering effective, efficient results while working in the public and private sectors,” San Francisco office managing principal Lisa Barnett Sween said in a statement. “Don is a seasoned litigator with experience in ERISA and employment law matters. As a trusted adviser in the employee benefits arena, he will further enhance our growing national employee benefits practice.”

“Gina and Don are both exceptional attorneys, and their arrival will expand the office's service capabilities and meet the growing client demand in San Francisco,” she added.

The labor and employment firm reported head count of 838 attorneys across its offices last year, and its revenue grew 6.4% to $447.5 million, but revenue per lawyer declined 2% to $534,000.

Meyers Nave and Wilson Elser did not respond to requests for comment on the two partners' departures.
