Withers added private client and tax lawyer Bryan H. Kelly as a partner. Kelly joins the firm's Los Angeles office after working at Venable. Kelly advises companies and families with complex interests on tax considerations regarding cross-border matters.
DLA Piper brought on former Greenberg Traurig attorney Vivek Chavan. Chavan practices real estate law, handling fund and joint venture investments and real estate investments. He joins the firm's San Francisco office as partner.
Michael S. Ringler joined Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom's corporate/mergers and acquisitions department as partner in Palo Alto. Previously he split his time between the Palo Alto and San Francisco offices of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Ringler represents clients in divestitures, joint ventures and other transformative business combinations.
Arthur Bryant, chairman emeritus of legal nonprofit Public Justice, opened Bailey & Glasser's Oakland office, which is the firm's first California location. He practices as of counsel in high-stakes litigation involving class action mass torts, products liability, personal injury and labor, employment and employee benefits.
Greenberg Traurig added Jeffrey A. Chester to its energy and natural resources practice in Los Angeles. He joins as a shareholder and global head of energy project finance after leaving Morrison & Foerster.
Jackson Lewis made two hires and a leadership appointment, with Gina M. Roccanova and Donald P. Sullivan joining the firm as principals in San Francisco and principal Guillermo A. Escobedo being named office litigation manager in San Diego. Roccanova was previously principal and chair of Meyers Nave Riback Silver & Wilson's labor and employment practice group. Sullivan previously worked at Wilson Elser, focusing his practice on employee benefits and compensation and employment litigation. Escobedo assists clients with workplace-related legal matters.
Employee Retirement Income Security Act litigator Jenny Wang left Hinshaw & Culbertson for Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart's ERISA litigation practice group. She joins the firm's Orange County office as shareholder. She handles matters including employee benefit plans, breach of fiduciary duty, equitable relief and benefits payment under employer-sponsored benefit plans.
Boutique firm California Appellate Law Group added appellate attorney Katy Graham to its ranks. Prior to joining the firm, Graham worked as a research attorney for the California Second District Court of Appeal. The California Appellate Law Group has offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

Amy O. Bruchs and Kurt F. Ellison of Michael Best & Friedrich have entered appearances for Epic Systems Corp. in a pending employment discrimination lawsuit. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
