Philadelphia-based Berger Montague opened a new office in San Diego. The office is headed by shareholder Benjamin Galdston, who left his post at Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossmann for the new position. He works in the firm's antitrust, commercial litigation, commodities and financial instruments, and securities and investor protections practice groups.

Sarah Chambless joined Fenwick & West's Santa Monica office from Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, where she led the firm's venture capital and emerging companies practice. Chambless, a partner with Fenwick, focuses her practice on matters related to startup businesses, particularly early-stage finance, technology licensing and regulatory considerations, venture capital investment transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.

Greenberg Traurig brought on former Winston & Strawn attorney David Bloch as a shareholder. He joins the firm's San Francisco office and litigates intellectual property matters related to infringement, trademark and trade secrets.

Scott Packman, former executive and general counsel at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc., is now senior executive vice president, chief strategy officer, general counsel and head of business affairs at Sonar Entertainment Inc. He is based in the independent studio's Los Angeles headquarters. Packman began working in-house in 2000 with a film- and television-oriented software company.

Boies Schiller Flexner added Mark Mao to its data privacy practice in San Francisco. Prior to the move, Mao practiced for almost four years at Troutman Sanders, where he was head of the firm's privacy, cybersecurity and information governance practice.

Teamwork management application company Asana hired Eleanor Lacey as general counsel in San Francisco. She will lead the company's legal department and oversee privacy, compliance, IP and commercial matters. Previously, she was executive vice president, chief legal officer and group company secretary of the cybersecurity software firm Sophos Group.
