ABA Data: Silicon Valley Lawyers Lead Nation in Compensation
Data compiled by the American Bar Association shows that average lawyer pay has nearly doubled since 1997. It also shows the cities with the highest salaries, with the San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara-area coming out tops in the nation.

The American Bar Association has released a trove of statistics relating to the legal profession, and Law.com is spending this week poring over the data. Today, we’re breaking down some key statistics on lawyer pay—namely, how the average lawyer salary has changed over the past two decades. We’re also looking at the 10 U.S. cities where lawyers make the most dough, and how lawyer pay stacks up to other professions.
