It's been more than a century since an election for San Francisco's district attorney position lacked an incumbent candidate. So there was something unprecedented about the debate Monday night at the University of San Francisco's McLaren Conference Center—a location aptly overlooking City Hall and the Hall of Justice. Four candidates for the DA spot sparred during an hour debate hosted by the San Francisco Bar Association. All candidates seemed to agree the top problems facing the city were chronic mental health issues, illegal drug use and homelessness as well as the need to reform the city's cash bail system. Here's a look at the candidates and a little bit of what they had to say.
