Gov. Gavin Newsom named 11 judges to the California Superior Court Friday. Women dominated the governor's first round of Superior Court appointees, with new female judges netting eight of the open judgeships.
The judges are dispersed among more than a half-dozen counties, with San Diego and Los Angeles counties reaping the bulk of the new jurists.
San Diego County Superior Court's newest judges include Olga Álvarez of San Diego; Judy S. Bae of San Diego; Terrie E. Roberts of Chula Vista. Roberts has worked as a commissioner at the San Diego County Superior Court since 2008. Prior to that, she held the role of deputy district attorney at the San Diego County District Attorney's Office from 2001 to 2008.
