Palo Alto-based Roger Royse is now a partner at Haynes and Boone, where he will advise companies on complex tax structuring, high-stakes business negotiations and international financial transactions. He brings with him a team of seven attorneys from the Royse Law Firm, which he founded in 2006. Six of the attorneys joining him will be counsel at Haynes and Boone, and one will be an associate.

Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo brought on Melissa Frayer as a member in its corporate group. She will represent clients in the life sciences, biotechnology, financial services and fintech industries in corporate and securities law matters such as initial public offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Mintz, Frayer was a senior associate at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. She is based in San Francisco.

Alec Nedelman left his position as general counsel of structured finance at commercial real estate investment company iStar Inc. to join Katten Muchin Rosenman. He will serve as senior counsel in the firm's real estate practice. Based in the firm's Los Angeles office, Nedelman will provide advice on business and talent development to Katten's West Coast real estate group.

Brady Berg, the former general counsel of artificial intelligence-based cybersecurity software company Cylance, rejoined Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in the firm's San Francisco office. He will be based in the firm's emerging companies practice, where he will handle corporate and securities law matters such as venture capital transactions, public offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Berg also worked at Wilson Sonsini earlier in his career as an associate between 1999 and 2008.
