Two California-based Tyson & Mendes attorneys—Kathryn Lee Colgan and Andrew Smith—were promoted to partnership within the firm. Colgan, who works in the firm's San Diego and Orange County offices, was previously senior counsel. She focuses her practice on general liability and labor and employment. Smith also litigates labor and employment matters. He is now managing partner of the firm's Los Angeles office.
Howard A. Herman, the former head of the alternative dispute resolution program for the Northern District of California joined ADR services provider JAMS's panel. He will serve as a mediator, arbitrator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator in disputes involving employment, business and commercial, civil rights, Americans With Disabilities Act access, insurance, environmental, copyright, trademark and personal injury. He is based in San Francisco.
The San Francisco Business Times named Kamili Moreland, executive vice president and general counsel of AAA Northern California, as one of the Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business. Moreland began working at AAA Northern California in 2011. Earlier in her career she worked at Carroll, Burdick & McDonough and Seyfarth Shaw.
Schwartz Semerdjian changed its name to Schwartz Semerdjian Cauley & Evans with the promotion of Sarah Evans to name partner. Evans began working in the firm's San Diego office in 2006. She focuses her practice on employment law, advising and defending employers in matters involving harassment and hostile work environment claims, wage-and-hour compliance and disciplinary actions.
Former co-chair of Littler Mendelson's retail industry group Julie Dunne is now part of DLA Piper's employment practice group. Dunne joins the firm as partner and will handle employment issues related to wage-and-hour class, collective and private attorney general representative actions under California laws and the Fair Labor Standards Act. She will work in DLA's San Diego office.
Northern California litigation and intellectual property counseling boutique Tyz Law Group added Shannon Ellenburg as engagement and operations manager. Ellenburg has experience with legal practice and project management and supporting litigation and intellectual property counseling teams. She most recently worked as an IP administrator at Goodwin Procter.
San Francisco-based Rosen Bien Galvan & Grunfeld brought on associate Rekha Arulanantham. Arulanantham will handle complex litigation and prelitigation matters and state and federal court. Prior to joining the firm, she was a Munger, Tolles & Olson Fellow at the ACLU of Southern California.
Vincent Whittaker and Skye Daley, two San Diego attorneys who focus their practices on complex business and commercial litigation, joined Buchalter. Whittaker joins as shareholder and Daley joins as an associate. According to LinkedIn, Whittaker was most recently with Best Best & Krieger, and Daley was with Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
