With IPO on Horizon, Snowflake Challenged Over Rights to Its Name
Data analytics company Yeti Data says it's been using Yeti Snowflake to promote its services for the last six years and wants to block Snowflake from "saturating" the market with its allegedly infringing name. Snowflake says Yeti remained silent despite years of press and trademark registrations, and questions whether it even has a viable business.

Palo Alto-based Yeti Data filed suit last month, saying it's been using the mark Yeti Snowflake since 2014 and registered it without opposition. It's accusing cloud data warehouse company Snowflake of "overt, opportunistic and willful attempts to cash in on and usurp the goodwill and value of Yeti Data's YETI SNOWFLAKE mark." Yeti Data's July 24 complaint is signed by Acuminis partner Christian Liedtke.
