The governor named 15 Superior Court judges overall, including several with Big Law backgrounds and experience as federal prosecutors.

On Associate Justice Ming Chin's last day in office, California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday named 15 new judges. The Supreme Court vacancy remains, however, as all the appointments were made to trial courts.
Russell Roeca, a partner at Roeca Haas Montes De Oca since 2000, was named to the San Francisco County Superior Court. Prior to that the trial lawyer was a partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson from 1998 to 2000 and both an associate and a partner at Long & Levit from 1985 to 1998.
