State senate leaders on Tuesday named a long-time legislative aide to replace recently resigned Debbie Manning on the state bar board of trustees.
The Senate Rules Committee appointed Arnold “Arnie” Sowell Jr., executive director of former presidential candidate Tom Steyer’s nonprofit NextGen Policy, to fill Manning’s term through 2022. Sowell previously served as policy director for five California Assembly speakers.
