Amazon.com Inc. and Williams-Sonoma Inc. appear to be nearing settlement of their dispute over Amazon's presentation of Williams-Sonoma merchandise on its platform. A deal would end two years of litigation that posed novel issues of trademark and copyright law.

Williams-Sonoma alleged that Amazon created a "fake Williams-Sonoma storefront" to resell its goods. The parties "finalized a settlement agreement" before U.S. Magistrate Judge Joseph Spero on Oct. 29, according to an order on the Northern District of California's public docket. A minute entry further indicates "case settled."
