Proposition 22, the initiative that would exempt app-based ride-hailing and delivery drivers from California’s worker friendly employee-classification law, held a steady lead after initial vote counts Wednesday morning.

With approximately 99% of precincts reporting their first vote tallies, the measure was ahead with 58.4% of the vote. The measure was leading in most counties that had reported counts with the exception of some in the Bay Area, including San Francisco.
