Author and lawyer Kathleen Tuttle was finalizing her book on the history of the Los Angeles legal community this summer when protests over the killing of George Floyd broke out across the globe. The book was already at the printers when Tuttle and her editors decided to halt the publishing process to capitalize the word "Black," in reference to Black Americans, about a week before the Los Angeles Times made the style change.
