Chapman University law professor John Eastman, who appeared at the “Save America” rally that preceded last week’s Capitol Hill riot and who assisted in filing several lawsuits challenging the presidential election results, has left the law school amid criticism of his role in stoking the violent attack.

University officials announced late Wednesday that Eastman had retired effective immediately, the result of discussions with university leaders over the past week. He had been on the faculty since 1999.
