A bankruptcy judge said he would not appoint the brother of embattled plaintiffs lawyer Tom Girardi to serve as his personal guardian since a probate judge has already done that.

At a Tuesday hearing on Zoom, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Barry Russell of the Central District of California said the motion by Robert Girardi to serve as "next friend" guardian ad litem for Tom Girardi, 81, was moot, because a Los Angeles Superior Court judge had appointed him Feb. 2 to serve as temporary conservator.
