Debevoise & Plimpton is opening an office in San Francisco in the second half of the year, at the behest of the firm’s Northern California tech and investor clients. Those clients in 2020 helped catapult the firm to double-digit growth in revenue and profits per equity partner.

Debevoise is not launching the office with new hires and is instead having five partners lead the office, including mergers and acquisitions co-chair Michael Diz, who will be co-managing partner of the new office alongside white-collar partner David Sarratt. The three other attorneys include investment management partner Andrew Ahern, intellectual property practice chair David Bernstein and white-collar partner Julie Riewe.
