California’s State Bar has challenged a conservatorship petition filed by trial attorney Tom Girardi, alleging the famed but troubled lawyer sought court protection in the face of “imminent” disciplinary action.

The bar’s objection, filed Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, comes two days after a psychiatrist told a judge that Girardi suffers from late-onset Alzheimer’s disease and cannot assist in his case.
