A California judge has dismissed charges against an Apple Inc. security chief indicted for allegedly promising a Silicon Valley sheriff’s office iPads in exchange for gun permits to arm personnel in charge of protecting the tech giant’s executives.

In an order Monday, Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Eric Geffon dismissed a bribery charge against Thomas Moyer, Apple’s head of global security. A grand jury in November indicted Moyer for reportedly offering the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department 200 iPads, worth nearly $70,000, in exchange for concealed carry permits.
