California state regulators on Wednesday rescinded COVID-19 workplace rules they endorsed just last week and pledged to return June 17 with new standards that align more closely to less restrictive state and federal public health guidelines.

The decision effectively keeps in place emergency workplace regulations requiring widespread indoor mask-wearing, physical distancing and the use of barriers, even as Gov. Gavin Newsom promises to “fully reopen” the state on June 15.
