The European Commission, continuing its efforts to clamp down on the power of Big Tech, has opened a fresh antitrust investigation of Google over concerns that its adtech business might be making it more difficult for rivals to compete against it.

Over what is likely to be a years-long process, Brussels officials will investigate whether the search giant is restricting competitors’ access to user data for advertising purposes, while at the same time keeping such data for its own use.
