Michael Avenatti has persuaded the judge in his California wire fraud trial to allow him to subpoena a New York federal investigator who interviewed his paralegal in connection with the Empire State extortion case.

Another New York-based agent could be flying across the country soon, too, as U.S. District Judge James Selna of the Central District of California still is considering another subpoena Avenatti served last week.
