A Chinese drone manufacturer targeted by U.S. regulators marketed some of its products as having a flight distance of more than two miles, despite federal law requiring drone operators to keep the devices within their line of sight, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in California federal court.

The class action complaint against Shenzhen, China-based DJI Technology Inc. comes one day after a Federal Communications Commission commissioner labeled the company “Huawei on wings.” Brendan Carr, the senior Republican on the FCC, called for the government to impose a similar trade ban against DJI as it did to the Chinese telecom giant.
