McKool Smith filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Facebook and Instagram Tuesday in California Central District Court. The complaint, brought on behalf of Angel Technologies Group, asserts four patents related to ‘tagging’, the widely used tool that attaches the names and social media accounts of people that appear in digital photos posted online. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2:21-cv-08459, Angel Technologies Group LLC v. Facebook, Inc. et al.
