Edelson PC, whose embezzlement lawsuit led to the collapse of plaintiff firm Girardi Keese, has accused a bankruptcy trustee’s attorney of conducting a “bizarre shakedown” of the firm in order to strike a deal with Tom Girardi’s estranged wife, Erika Girardi.

In a Tuesday filing, Edelson fired back at Erika Girardi’s claim that he can’t pursue his lawsuit, which includes claims against her, because he had an “unethical” and “illegal” fee agreement with Girardi Keese. Edelson, based in Chicago, was co-counsel with Girardi Keese on lawsuits against Boeing over the 2018 crash of Lion Air Flight 610 in Indonesia.
