Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and other social media platforms, and its top officers were hit with a securities class action Tuesday in California Northern District Court. The suit, brought by Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check, accuses the defendants of knowingly misleading investors about Meta's ability and willingness to monitor for misinformation and other harmful content. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 4:21-cv-08873, Depot v. Meta Platforms Inc. et al.
