A California appellate court on Thursday rejected former President Donald Trump’s appeal of an attorney fee order in a lawsuit over adult film star Stormy Daniels’ nondisclosure agreement, citing a filing deadline Trump’s now-former lawyers missed by four days.

The decision from California’s Second District Court of Appeal in Los Angeles leaves in place an Aug. 17, 2020, trial court order that linked Trump directly to the nondisclosure agreement because of his admission that he reimbursed the $130,000 paid to Daniels by ex-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who’s since been disbarred. It doesn’t address the merits of the opening brief filed in September because the three-justice panel deemed the Oct. 20, 2020, notice of appeal untimely.
