California's state bar received more than 1,200 public comments on a proposal to allow some nonlawyers to practice law, with a large majority of respondents panning the idea.
Seventy-three percent of the comments, including those submitted by individuals and organizations, criticized the paraprofessional program, according to statistics provided by the bar.
