Republic Services, a Phoenix-based waste disposal company, and subsidiary Allied Waste Systems were hit with a customer class action Tuesday in California Southern District Court. The suit, which arises from a labor strike of the defendants’ waste and recycling removal workers, was filed by Khashayar Law Group and Hariri Law Group on behalf of San Diego County residents paying for weekly pickup services. The complaint contends that the defendants are still billing for services even though there have been no pickups since mid-December, a situation that has also caused an environmental nuisance. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 3:22-cv-00099, Chen v. Allied Waste Systems, Inc. et al.
