Girardi Keese’s former litigation lenders are pushing back against a bankruptcy trustee’s efforts to spend more money on investigating whether they knew about Tom Girardi’s fraud.

Three lenders this week filed objections to Girardi Keese trustee Elissa Miller’s request to expand the role of special counsel Larry Gabriel, brought in on Dec. 17 to probe $25 million in fraudulent transfers to Girardi’s estranged wife, Erika Girardi. Miller asked that Gabriel also be paid to investigate lenders, former accountants and “outside legal counsel.”
