Attorneys for UC Hastings School of Law on Wednesday moved to dismiss a lawsuit challenging plans to change the school’s name, citing protections under California’s anti-SLAPP law.

A Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher team led by Theodore Boutrous Jr. said the lawsuit filed last month by a group of alumni and descendants of the school’s founder, former Chief Justice Serranus Hastings, improperly attacks the protected rights of school leaders to choose a new name.
