Voters on Tuesday were poised to approve Patricia Guerrero’s selection as California’s next chief justice while also voting to retain three of her colleagues on the state Supreme Court.

Guerrero and Associate Justices Joshua Groban, Martin Jenkins and Goodwin Liu were all handily winning retention votes in early returns. With 48% of precincts partially reporting, 74% of voters had confirmed Guerrero’s nomination. Support for Groban, Jenkins and Liu ranged between 72% and 73%.
