Kelli Evans will be the first openly LGBTQ woman justice on the California Supreme Court after her confirmation Thursday.

The Commission on Judicial Appointments members—which included outgoing Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, California Attorney General Rob Bonta, and Court of Appeal Senior Presiding Justice Manuel Ramirez—offered only a few probing questions for the Alameda County Superior Court judge.
