The boom in the technology sector in the past two years brought California law firms record profits. But as tech companies retrace their steps, so too are the firms that serve them.

Profits at law firms born in California lagged behind the national average, while demand and net income fared better than firms’ performance in competing markets, according to Wells Fargo Private Bank Legal Specialty Group’s nine-month survey results.
