Reed Smith is launching another California office, the Am Law 50 firm announced Monday, opening with seven lawyers in Orange County and promising to “rapidly expand” there in the coming months.

The firm, No. 28 in the last Am Law 100 rankings, already has offices in Los Angeles, Century City, San Francisco and Silicon Valley. But by pushing further south with its fifth office in the state, and adding lawyers in real estate, intellectual property and litigation, firm leaders say it’s ramping up its commitment to the Golden State as well as its core industry areas.
