Sempra Energy and its subsidiary Southern California Gas Co. were slapped with a personal injury lawsuit on April 25 in California Superior Court for Los Angeles County. The court action was brought by the Pius Joseph law firm on behalf of Donia Sulyman, a minor, and their guardian Essam Sulyman. The suit seeks damages for a four-month gas leak from the defendant's Aliso Canyon Natural Gas Storage Facility, which caused toxic air contamination in surrounding communities. According to the complaint, the plaintiffs have suffered neurological and respiratory illnesses as well as other ailments due to the pollution. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 23CHCV01201, Sulyman v. Southern California Gas Company.
