Sierra Club, East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice and other plaintiffs filed an environmental lawsuit against the California Air Resources Board and South Coast Air Quality Management District on Aug. 15 in California Central District Court. The suit, filed by attorneys at Earthjustice and Communities for a Better Environment, accuses the defendants of failing to timely adopt mandatory pollution fees in areas which fail to meet certain standards for smog. The case is 2:23-cv-06682, East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice et al. v. South Coast Air Quality Management District et al.
