HCA Healthcare was slapped with a data breach class action on Aug. 13 in California Superior Court for Riverside County. The suit, filed by Potter Handy LLP on behalf of patients at HCA's hospital, satellite, or urgent care locations, alleges HCA mishandled personal medical information, leading to a breach potentially impacting 11 million patients. The suit also accuses HCA of failing to timely warn patients of the breach. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is Wingo v. HCA Healthcare.
