Oakland City Attorney Barbara Parker’s next career move might surprise the California legal community. But it might very well surprise Parker herself, who said she hasn’t settled on specific plans after more than a decade leading the office.

“I have had an interest in being in the Peace Corps, I don’t know if that’s something I want to do at this stage, because I looked at it, and it seems like there’s a two-year minimum. I don’t know if I want to do a full two years, but I’ve always wanted to go and live elsewhere to help and contribute,” Parker said in a phone interview Wednesday.
