Brain scans revealed Tom Girardi had progressive cognitive decline in the past few years, according to a neurologist who testified on Tuesday on the second day of a mental competency hearing.

Dr. Helena Chui, of the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine, who met the former managing partner of Girardi Keese twice in 2021 and once earlier this year, testified in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom that Girardi, 84, most likely had mild to moderate dementia.
