A federal district judge who found Tom Girardi competent to stand trial concluded that his lawyers’ arguments were “wholly lacking in credibility,” and some evidence showed “no more than normal age-related decline.”

U.S. District Judge Josephine Staton, who filed her decision on Tuesday in a docket entry, unsealed her order Friday. Staton, who is overseeing the criminal case in Los Angeles against Girardi, 84, sided with the experts for the federal government to conclude that he was competent.
