President Joe Biden on Wednesday turned to the Alameda County Superior Court once again to fill a vacancy on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California bench, choosing Noël Wise to replace Judge Edward Davila, who announced plans last year to take senior status whenever his successor assumes office.

Wise has served as a Superior Court judge in the East Bay since then-Gov. Jerry Brown appointed her in 2014. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Wise will join former colleagues Trina Thompson and Eumi Lee as the third Biden appointee to the Northern District bench to come from the Alameda County Superior Court.
