Tom Girardi’s lawyers have sought to sever his upcoming criminal trial from the federal government’s case against Girardi Keese’s ex-accountant, who they insist took advantage of their client’s diminished mental state to siphon millions from the firm’s bank accounts.

The motion to sever comes one day after a June 20 hearing where Girardi’s lawyers previewed their defense case, which blames Christopher Kamon, the former chief accountant of Girardi Keese, who is now incarcerated in Los Angeles.
