Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp filed a copyright infringement claim on behalf of Unidisc Music  against Cleopatra Records on Thursday in the Central District of the U.S. District Court of California.

Unidisc contends that it owns the Canadian rights to the recordings of Melanie Safka, the American folk singer popularly known as Melanie, as well as the universal rights to the music of Utopia, an American band led by acclaimed musician Todd Rundgren in the 1970s and ‘80s.
