Tom Girardi’s lawyers have asked a federal judge to delay next month’s criminal trial to October, citing an expansion of the government’s case to involve $25 million in financial transactions for his estranged wife Erika Jayne’s entertainment business.
In the motion, the defense attorneys argued that the government, which last month sought to introduce such evidence into trial, was stretching its case beyond the “four corners” of the 2023 indictment that initially claimed Girardi stole $15 million from four client matters.
