Federal prosecutors indicated Thursday that they may drop criminal charges against Tom Girardi in Illinois following his conviction last month.

At a Thursday status conference, Assistant U.S. Attorney Corey Rubenstein told U.S. District Judge Mary Rowland of the Northern District of Illinois that the government might drop the charges following Girardi’s sentencing hearing on Dec. 6. Prosecutors in Chicago have charged Girardi and two others with stealing $3 million from clients who sued Boeing over the 2018 crash of Lion Air Flight 610 in Indonesia.
