California and four environmental groups will pursue parallel lawsuits accusing Exxon Mobil Corp. of lying for decades about the feasibility of recycling the massive amount of plastic it produces, Attorney General Rob Bonta announced Monday.

The suits, filed in San Francisco County Superior Court, seek an array of remedies and damages. The Burlingame plaintiffs firm of Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy is representing Sierra Club Inc., Surfrider Foundation Inc., Heal the Bay Inc. and Baykeeper Inc. in the groups' complaint against the oil and chemical giant.
